The dissertation and thesis research project can be  the bane of the graduate student’s existence.  Probably nothing else in your graduate school experience is approached with as much reluctance as this project.  Too often it can hang like an albatross around your neck.  Having a consultant is one way to get yourself going, overcome roadblocks, acquire technical assistance and/or get help with writing and editing.  

Consider hiring a consultant if you are:  

• having trouble getting started or feeling stuck

• unsure of how to organize and manage your project

• in need of assistance with research design, methodology and statistics

• wanting to write more clearly and effectively

• seeking help in working with your committee and preparing for orals

• feeling your topic is out of focus
